Best quesabirrias I've ever had and I've tried a lot. Owner and staff are also very sweet!

Amazing food, I wish I lived closer or they would have other locations. Sometimes there is a long waiting time to get the food ready but that's a good sign.

I stopped by today for a pop-up, mercadito, and for a quesadilla frita de mole bussy packed day, the owner was really nice Mi quesadilla was good and filled my expectations enough for lunch See you soon again

I stumbled across this gem while searching Yelp for restaurants near me that served quesabirria tacos and I'm so glad that I did! First of all, the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and it's clean on the inside. My friend and I were seated immediately and were given menus. Now, let me tell you about the food; OMG it was delicious! I ordered the quesabirria taco platter and it came with 3 tacos, rice, and beans. My friend ordered the quesabirria sampler which came with shrimp, chicken, steak, and traditional birria meat. Everything came out fresh, hot, cheesy, and sooo good! I can't wait to come back and try other menu items. The service was great and our waitress was really nice. Tacotlan is BYOB, which was a plus. I highly recommend this restaurant!

This place is something special. The staff is friendly, the owner is very nice, and the food. Amazing, just like everyone else has said. There is about a 30-40 min wait to dine in (we went on a Saturday night). Even takeout is around the same amount of time so I would order ahead if you're in a rush. The place is busy, like real busy. Every table has people in it, the staff is constantly on the go. If you don't like high paced environments, I would just get the food to go. Let's talk about the food. You get complementary chips and salsa if you dine-in. Solid chips, the taste homemade. Salsa is good too, a bit spicy but has good flavor. I usually get the quesabirria dinner with two sides of rice but today I wanted to try something different. I got the birria platter. Steak birria, chicken birria, shrimp birria and regular beef birria. The chicken and steak birria were very good, the chicken might be my favorite after the regular beef birria. The shrimp birria was just okay. I don't think shrimp birria is for me, the textures just did not sit well with my stomach. The rice is amazing. Like, some of the best Mexican rice in the city. Not mushy but not too hard either, and seasoned very well. Overall, this place is great. It needs to be bigger. Or have a second location. I wish this business well, and I will be back.

Walking through these doors is like walking in to the kitchen of the Mexican Grandma you never knew you had at your cousins Rancho wedding. The smells get you Birria-wasted. Bring your posse, you'll need backup. Hop on the back of these Racing Burros and let's ride on this magical food aventure! We've been to Tacotlan several times and believe will be here again, GUARANTEED! We have ordered the Birria, Queso Birria, Birria Pizza and RamenBirria among with other Birria combos. Their recipe is fantastic! The flavor is a Bachata party for your tastebuds. Their Queso Birria, WOW... just WOW. The Birria Pizza? Satire Fantástico! The Ramen Birria? 味道鲜美！ Try the steak tacos... they will blow your mind! It's like a concert for your senses! The service was outstanding! All of our waitstaff over the course of our 5 visits have been great. They make some serious drinks also. We had the pepino lime agua fresca is wonderful, even better with a little Uncle Tito's. They have all kinds of deserts, but we love the flan. It's thicker and creamier and just awesome. Stop by and you might see me at the next table!

The hype is real ya'll, the viral TikTok birria ramen is definitely worth the try! Just a few things to keep in mind before visiting Tacotlan - 1. They're known for their birria tacos and they truly live up to their name (best in Chicago I've had so far). There are so many birria combo dishes that are also worth the try. The burrito is not to be slept on. 2. The drinks (specially the slushees) are out of this world. It adds such a fun token to the whole dining experience. They have a mini drink prep station at the back and you can see all the effort that goes into preparing these wild drinks. 3. The restaurant itself is SMALL - so if you're going there on a weekend, expect to wait. 4. Service is fast and super friendly. I ordered the birria ramen and the waitress mistook my identity for someone that can't handle spice (jokes on her, I'm Lebanese) but she warned me of the Tapatio soup pack and that it can make my ramen spicy. I found that adorable that she was just looking out. 5. The horchata is some of the best I've had in my life. It's not overly sweet and you can truly taste every aspect of it. You also get a refill for half price! 6. 18% gratuity is automatically added to your bill for dine-in (any party size) - there is an option to tip more if you're feeling generous. I highly recommend you try this place! ~Till next time!

An update since I didn't order the Quesabirria last time. I ordered the dinner and it came with rice and beans. I would say skip because the rice was ok the drier side while the beans was more beany if that makes sense. Also it was an extra $5 too. The dinner comes with 3 tacos and the sauce. For sure you will be full after eating 2 tacos. It's a meaty taco so forewarn. For the price, it is expensive tbh. But their delivery is fairly quick too.

I ordered catering for my team for lunch and we had a hiccup with the delivery. Honestly I believe the driver smelled the food and stole our order! But they were very kind and quick to remake our order in 20 minutes. When the new order arrived it was piping hot and fresh. The whole team loved it and the guy who delivered it was wearing a Superman suite which was a vibe lol. Now when it came to the taste, it definitely had great flavor the birria meat was tender and that green salsa made it even better. Rice was flavorful and people kept going back for more. Beans were great as well. Definitely took me a to go plate home and tore it up. Will order again!
